The Good Fruit uses cookies to operate the website and may use cookies to support affiliate tracking if and when affiliate programs are active. We do not use cookies for analytics. This policy explains exactly what we use, why, and how you can control it.

1. About This Cookie Policy

This Cookie Policy applies to the website located at thegoodfruit.site (the "Website"), owned and operated by Consumers For Christ LLC, a California limited liability company doing business as The Good Fruit ("The Good Fruit," "we," "us," or "our").

This policy explains what cookies and similar tracking technologies are, which ones we use, why we use them, who places them, and how you can control or refuse them. It is intended to be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which provides a broader explanation of how we collect and handle personal information.

By using the Website, you acknowledge that you have read this Cookie Policy. Where your consent is required by applicable law before we activate nonessential cookies, we will seek that consent before placing those cookies on your device.

We have written this policy in plain language. We ask that you read it in full.

2. What Are Cookies?

A cookie is a small text file that a website places on your device — your computer, phone, or tablet — when you visit. Think of it like a short note the website leaves with your browser so it can remember something about your visit.

Cookies serve many different purposes. Some are essential — without them, the website simply would not work. Others are used to remember your preferences or to track whether you clicked an affiliate link before making a purchase.

Cookies are not programs. They cannot run code, carry viruses, or access other files on your device. They are just small pieces of stored text.

First-Party vs. Third-Party Cookies

A first-party cookie is set directly by the website you are visiting — in this case, thegoodfruit.site. We control these cookies.

A third-party cookie is set by a different domain — for example, Amazon Associates — even though you are visiting our website. Those third parties control those cookies under their own privacy policies.

Session vs. Persistent Cookies

A session cookie exists only while your browser is open. It is deleted automatically when you close your browser tab or window.

A persistent cookie remains on your device for a set period of time — days, months, or even years — or until you delete it manually. It allows a website or service to recognize you across multiple visits.

Similar Technologies

In addition to cookies, websites may use similar technologies such as:

  • Web beacons (also called tracking pixels or clear GIFs) — tiny invisible images embedded in a page or email that signal when content has been loaded or a link has been clicked;
  • Local storage — a browser feature that stores data on your device, similar to cookies but with a larger capacity and no automatic expiration;
  • Session storage — like local storage, but cleared when the browser session ends; and
  • Fingerprinting — a technique that identifies a device based on its technical characteristics, without using cookies. The Good Fruit does not intentionally use fingerprinting.

References to "cookies" in this policy include these similar technologies where the context applies.

3. How We Use Cookies

The Good Fruit uses cookies and similar technologies for the following general purposes:

  • To make the website function correctly;
  • To remember your preferences and settings;
  • To support affiliate tracking if and when affiliate programs are active — so that qualifying purchases made after clicking our affiliate links are properly attributed; and
  • To comply with legal obligations where applicable.

A note on analytics: The Good Fruit measures website traffic and reader engagement using Umami Analytics — a privacy-focused, open-source analytics platform. Umami is designed not to use cookies, fingerprint visitors, or collect personal data. The Good Fruit currently uses Umami's cloud-hosted service and does not collect cookies through it. Because Umami operates entirely without cookies, it is not governed by this Cookie Policy. See Section 5 for a full explanation of how Umami works and why we chose it.

We do not use cookies to build advertising profiles for sale to third parties. We do not sell personal information. Affiliate tracking cookies are used solely to attribute qualifying purchases to our affiliate referrals — not to build behavioral advertising profiles.

4. Categories of Cookies We Use

We categorize the cookies used on this Website as follows. The legal basis for each category is addressed in Section 8 (GDPR and International Visitors).

Strictly Necessary

A. Strictly Necessary Cookies

These cookies are essential for the Website to function. Without them, core features — such as page navigation, security protections, and form submissions — would not work. These cookies do not collect information used for marketing or analytics.

Consent is not required for strictly necessary cookies. They are activated automatically as part of the website's basic operation.

Examples of what these cookies may do:

  • Maintain your session as you navigate between pages;
  • Remember items in a shopping cart or form progress, if such features are offered;
  • Support security features such as CSRF protection;
  • Enable load balancing and server routing by our hosting provider (IONOS); and
  • Store your cookie consent preference if a consent mechanism is implemented in the future.

Analytics — Cookieless (No Consent Required)

B. Performance and Analytics — Cookieless by Design Revised

The Good Fruit uses Umami Analytics, a privacy-focused, open-source analytics platform. Umami is designed not to use cookies, fingerprint visitors, or collect personal data. The Good Fruit currently uses Umami's cloud-hosted service and does not collect cookies through it.

Specifically:

  • Umami does not use cookies of any kind;
  • Umami does not collect personal data — no names, email addresses, IP addresses, or device identifiers are stored;
  • Umami is designed to avoid selling visitor data or using it for advertising profiles;
  • Umami is designed to support privacy-conscious analytics without cookie-based visitor tracking; and
  • Visitors cannot be individually identified — Umami reports aggregate patterns only.

Because Umami uses no cookies and collects no personal data, no consent banner is required for Umami tracking. This is not a legal workaround — it is the intended result of choosing a tool that respects privacy by design.

This category is listed here for transparency. Because no cookies are involved, Umami is not technically subject to cookie law — but we believe you deserve to know how we measure our work.

Functional

C. Functional Cookies

Functional cookies allow the Website to remember choices you make and provide enhanced, personalized features. They may be set by us or by third-party providers whose services we have added to our pages.

Examples of what functional cookies may do:

  • Remember your language or region preference;
  • Remember whether you have dismissed a notice or banner;
  • Support embedded video players (such as YouTube) so they function correctly; and
  • Remember newsletter subscription preferences or form pre-fill settings.

If you disable functional cookies, some features of the Website may not work as intended, but the core content will remain accessible.

Your consent may be required for functional cookies in certain jurisdictions.

Targeting / Advertising

D. Targeting and Advertising Cookies

These cookies may be used to track affiliate referrals if and when affiliate programs are active and, where applicable in the future, to support advertising or retargeting. On The Good Fruit, the intended use of this category is affiliate tracking — specifically, to record that a visitor clicked one of our affiliate links so that a qualifying purchase can be properly attributed to our referral.

The Good Fruit may participate in the Amazon Associates Program or other affiliate programs in the future. When affiliate links are active and you click an affiliate link on our Website, Amazon or another affiliate network may place a cookie on your device to track whether you complete a qualifying purchase. This cookie is set by the affiliate network — not by The Good Fruit directly — and is governed by that network's privacy policy.

We do not use targeting cookies to serve you personalized advertisements on other websites. We do not operate an advertising network. Affiliate tracking cookies exist solely to ensure we receive proper credit for qualifying referrals.

Your consent may be required for targeting and advertising cookies in certain jurisdictions. See Section 8 for details.

5. Third-Party Cookies and Services

Some cookies on this Website are placed by third parties — companies whose services we have integrated into the Website. These third parties operate under their own privacy policies, which we encourage you to review. The Good Fruit does not control third-party cookies and cannot guarantee how those parties use the data they collect.

Umami Analytics (Cookieless — Not a Cookie Service) Revised

Purpose

Website analytics — understanding how visitors use the Website, which pages are popular, where traffic comes from, and how the site performs.

Cookies set

None. Umami is a cookieless analytics platform. It does not place any cookies on your device.

Data collected

Aggregate, anonymized metrics only — page views, referral sources, device type, browser, and approximate geographic region (country level). No personal data is collected. No visitor can be individually identified.

Data storage

The Good Fruit uses Umami Analytics, a privacy-focused, open-source analytics platform. Umami is designed not to use cookies, fingerprint visitors, or collect personal data. The Good Fruit currently uses Umami's cloud-hosted service and does not collect cookies through it.

Privacy compliance

Designed for privacy-conscious analytics. No cookie consent is required for Umami tracking because Umami does not use cookies.

Opt-out

Because Umami collects no personal data and uses no cookies, there is no personal opt-out mechanism to provide. If you prefer that your visit not be counted in aggregate statistics, you may use a browser-level content blocker. However, no personal information about you is collected regardless.

Why we chose Umami

The Good Fruit does not use Google Analytics or similar commercial analytics platforms because those services collect personal data and may sell or share that data with third parties — practices that conflict with our core values. Umami allows us to understand how our content is used without compromising your privacy.

Amazon Associates (Affiliate Tracking — If Active)

Purpose

Affiliate referral attribution — if Amazon affiliate links are active and you click one on this Website, Amazon may place a cookie to record the referral so qualifying purchases can be attributed to The Good Fruit.

Cookies set

Amazon may set cookies such as session-id, ubid-main, and related identifiers. These are set by Amazon's domain, not by thegoodfruit.site.

Data collected

Click referral data, session identifiers, and purchase attribution information. Amazon may also collect additional data under its own privacy policy when you visit Amazon.com.

Retention

Amazon affiliate tracking cookies typically persist for 24 hours from the time of the click, though Amazon may set additional cookies with longer durations for its own purposes.

Privacy policy

Amazon Privacy Notice

Note: If and when affiliate links are active, The Good Fruit may earn a commission on qualifying purchases made through those links. This does not increase the price you pay. See our Affiliate Disclosure for full details.

YouTube (Embedded Videos)

Purpose

When we embed YouTube videos on the Website, YouTube may place cookies on your device when you interact with or play the video.

Cookies set

YouTube (owned by Google) may set cookies including VISITOR_INFO1_LIVE, YSC, and PREF. Where possible, we use YouTube's privacy-enhanced embed mode (youtube-nocookie.com) to reduce cookie placement until you interact with the video.

Data collected

Video interaction data, preferences, and potentially advertising-related identifiers if you are logged into a Google account.

Other Affiliate Networks

The Good Fruit may participate in additional affiliate programs beyond Amazon Associates. When we do, those affiliate networks may place tracking cookies when you click our affiliate links. We will update this policy to identify any material new affiliate networks we join.

The Good Fruit does not currently operate display advertising on the Website. If we add advertising networks in the future, we will update this policy and provide any required consent mechanisms before those cookies are activated.

For general opt-out from interest-based advertising by participating ad networks, visit the Network Advertising Initiative (NAI) opt-out page at optout.networkadvertising.org.

Hosting Provider (IONOS)

Purpose

IONOS, our website hosting provider, may set technical cookies or log data necessary to deliver the website, maintain server availability, support security, and diagnose errors. These are strictly necessary for the website to function.

6. How to Control and Refuse Cookies

You have several options for controlling or refusing cookies. Please be aware that disabling certain cookies may affect the functionality of this Website or other websites you visit.

A. Browser Settings

Most web browsers allow you to manage cookies through their settings. You can typically:

  • View the cookies currently stored on your device;
  • Delete all cookies or cookies from specific websites;
  • Block all cookies from being set;
  • Block third-party cookies specifically; and
  • Set your browser to notify you before a cookie is placed.

Instructions for managing cookies in common browsers:

  • Google Chrome: Settings → Privacy and Security → Cookies and other site data
  • Mozilla Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
  • Apple Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
  • Microsoft Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Cookies and site data
  • Opera: Settings → Advanced → Privacy & security → Site Settings → Cookies

For mobile devices, cookie settings are typically found in your browser app's settings menu. You may also find device-level privacy controls in your phone's system settings.

B. Analytics Opt-Out

No analytics opt-out mechanism is required or provided for Umami. Because Umami Analytics collects no personal data and uses no cookies, there is no personal information to opt out of. Your visit may be counted in aggregate, anonymized statistics — but you cannot be individually identified, and no data about you is stored, shared, or sold.

If you prefer not to be counted even in aggregate statistics, you may use a browser-level content blocker. This is entirely your choice — but we want to be clear that Umami poses no privacy risk to you regardless.

C. Network Advertising Initiative (NAI) Opt-Out

To opt out of interest-based advertising from companies that participate in the Network Advertising Initiative, visit: optout.networkadvertising.org

You may also use the Digital Advertising Alliance's opt-out tool at optout.aboutads.info.

D. Amazon Affiliate Cookie Opt-Out

If Amazon affiliate links are active and you click one, Amazon may set affiliate tracking cookies. You can manage or delete these cookies through your browser settings (see Section 6A above). You may also manage your Amazon advertising preferences through your Amazon account settings at amazon.com/adprefs.

E. Cookie Consent Tool Revised

The Good Fruit does not currently use a dedicated cookie consent tool. Because The Good Fruit does not currently use known nonessential cookies that require a site-level consent banner under applicable law, no consent banner is currently in use. If nonessential cookies are added in the future, an appropriate consent mechanism will be provided before those cookies are placed.

7. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), provides you with specific rights regarding your personal information, including information collected through cookies.

The Good Fruit does not sell personal information and will not sell personal information under any circumstance.

Cookies and the CCPA

Under the CCPA, certain uses of cookies — particularly those that share personal information with third parties for cross-context behavioral advertising — may constitute a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information, even if no money changes hands.

The Good Fruit's current use of cookies is limited to website operation, with affiliate tracking possible if and when affiliate programs are active. We do not use cookies to share your personal information with third parties for the purpose of serving you targeted advertisements on other websites. We do not operate a behavioral advertising network.

Our analytics platform, Umami, is designed not to collect personal data for analytics. If affiliate tracking cookies are active through a program such as Amazon Associates, they are used to attribute qualifying purchases to our referral links. We do not receive complete payment information from Amazon or other affiliate networks about your purchases.

The Good Fruit's privacy-by-design approach — particularly our use of cookieless analytics — is intended to reduce the personal data footprint of your visit to this Website.

Your California Rights

As a California resident, you may have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we collect, use, disclose, or share;
  • Delete personal information we have collected about you, subject to certain exceptions;
  • Correct inaccurate personal information we hold about you;
  • Opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising;
  • Limit the use and disclosure of sensitive personal information; and
  • Non-discrimination — we will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.

To exercise your California privacy rights, contact us at:

Email hello@thegoodfruit.site

We will respond to verifiable consumer requests within the timeframes required by applicable California law. We may need to verify your identity before processing your request.

For a complete description of your California privacy rights and how we handle personal information, please review our Privacy Policy.

8. GDPR and International Visitors

If you are located in the European Union, the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction with comprehensive privacy laws, additional rights and protections may apply to the use of cookies on this Website.

Legal Basis for Cookies

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the UK GDPR, we rely on the following legal bases for placing cookies:

Cookie CategoryLegal Basis
Strictly NecessaryLegitimate interests / Necessary for the performance of a contract — no consent required
Analytics (Umami)No legal basis required — Umami uses no cookies and collects no personal data; GDPR and PECR do not apply
FunctionalConsent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR)
Targeting / AdvertisingConsent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR)

Privacy-by-design and GDPR: The Good Fruit's use of Umami Analytics — a cookieless analytics platform — means analytics cookies do not apply to this Website. We do not need to obtain cookie consent for analytics tracking because analytics cookies are not placed. This is not a legal technicality; it is the result of a deliberate choice to use tools that respect privacy.

Your Rights Under GDPR

If GDPR or a similar law applies to you, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you;
  • Rectify inaccurate personal information;
  • Erase your personal information ("right to be forgotten");
  • Restrict the processing of your personal information;
  • Object to processing based on legitimate interests;
  • Data portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format; and
  • Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing based on consent before withdrawal.

Withdrawing Consent

You may withdraw your consent to nonessential cookies at any time by:

  • Adjusting your browser settings to block or delete cookies (see Section 6A); or
  • Contacting us directly at hello@thegoodfruit.site.

Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of any processing that occurred before you withdrew it. It may affect certain features of the Website.

International Data Transfers

Some of the third-party services we use, or may use if affiliate programs are activated, may transfer data to the United States or other countries outside the European Economic Area. These transfers are subject to the privacy policies and data transfer mechanisms of those third parties. We encourage you to review their privacy policies for details.

Umami Analytics is designed to avoid collecting personal data. The Good Fruit currently uses Umami's cloud-hosted service; if hosting arrangements change, this policy will be updated accordingly.

Contact for GDPR Inquiries Revised

Email hello@thegoodfruit.site

If you believe we have not adequately addressed your privacy concerns, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

9. Do Not Track Signals

Some browsers include a "Do Not Track" (DNT) feature that sends a signal to websites requesting that your browsing activity not be tracked.

The Good Fruit's current position on Do Not Track: There is no universally accepted technical standard for how websites should respond to DNT signals. At this time, The Good Fruit does not alter its data collection or cookie practices in response to browser-level DNT signals, because no consistent industry standard for honoring such signals has been established.

We will revisit this position if a recognized standard is adopted. In the meantime, you may use the browser settings and opt-out tools described in Section 6 to limit tracking on this Website. We note that our analytics platform (Umami) already collects no personal data regardless of DNT status.

California law (the California Online Privacy Protection Act) requires websites to disclose how they respond to DNT signals. This section constitutes that disclosure.

10. Cookie Consent Revised

What Consent Means

When and if a consent mechanism is implemented, your consent will be:

  • Freely given — you will not be required to accept nonessential cookies to access the Website's core content;
  • Specific — you may accept or decline each category of cookie separately;
  • Informed — this Cookie Policy explains what each category does and who places the cookies; and
  • Withdrawable — you may change or withdraw your consent at any time.

Updating Your Preferences

You may manage cookies at any time by:

  • Clearing your cookies through your browser settings, which will remove any stored preferences; or
  • Contacting us at hello@thegoodfruit.site.

Consent Records

If a cookie consent mechanism is implemented in the future, we will maintain records of consent as required by applicable law, including the date, the version of the policy in effect, and the preferences selected.

11. Children's Privacy

The Good Fruit is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through cookies or any other means. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information through this Website, please contact us at hello@thegoodfruit.site and we will take appropriate steps to delete that information.

Visitors under the age of 18 should review this Cookie Policy with a parent or guardian.

12. Changes to This Cookie Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the cookies we use, changes in applicable law, or changes in our practices. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy.

We encourage you to review this Cookie Policy periodically. Your continued use of the Website after any changes constitutes your acknowledgment of the updated policy. Where required by law, we will seek fresh consent for any new nonessential cookies we introduce.

If you have questions about any changes, please contact us using the information in Section 13.

13. Contact Us Revised
